Reginald “Reggie” Powell entered eternal rest on April 10, 2024 in
Bay Shore, New York. Reginald was born on April 3, 1956 in
Whiteville, NC but considered Newburgh, New York his home.
After graduating from Newburgh Free Academy where he was an
outstanding basketball player with his beloved Newburgh
Goldbacks, Reginald entered the United States Army and completed
his tour of duty in 1979 in Kentucky with 101st Airborne as a
Paratrooper. Reginald worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor for
the State of New York for many years before retiring in 2016.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Perkins; his brother, Kevin
“Butch” Moore and wife Candice; his life partner, Mia Norton; his
uncle and aunt, Charlie and Ida Jones; his cousin, Daryl Riley and
uncle, Clarence Riley as well as a host of cousins, nieces and
nephews. Reginald was most proud of his 3 sons, 2 daughters and 9
grandchildren and adored his god sisters, Sandra and Joy and his
god son, Marcus. His beloved friends Tony, Sam, Larry, Carlton,
Mike, Ronny and Lamont were also special in his life. Reginald will
truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Reginald joins his loving grandparents, Clifton and Nellie Powell, his
beloved Aunt, Lil Riley and cousin Jacqueline Riley in eternal.
