Obituary For Thomas R. Bunn

Thomas Roy Bunn

Thomas Roy Bunn was born on November 15, 1944, in Tarboro, North Carolina, to the late Fannie Bunn. He was lovingly raised by his grandfather, the late Mr. Willie Bunn, whose guidance, love, and wisdom helped shape the man he would become.

On June 4, 1966, Thomas was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Frances Bennerman, in Poughkeepsie, New York. For 60 years, they shared a life built on love, commitment, faith, family, and countless cherished memories. Their union was blessed with two sons, Anthony Bunn and Jesse Bunn.

Thomas was a hardworking, dependable, and devoted man who believed in providing for and caring for his family. He dedicated 44 years of service to Vassar Brothers Medical Center before retiring in 2006. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to help others.

Outside of his professional life, Thomas was a gifted mechanic who enjoyed working with his hands. He had a natural ability to fix things and was always willing to lend his knowledge and skills to those in need. Whether repairing a vehicle, solving a problem, or simply lending a helping hand, Thomas found meaningful ways to serve others.

Thomas had a personality that could not be forgotten. He was known for his humor, generosity, and straightforward way of showing love. He was the kind of man who did not always have to say much to let you know he loved you; his actions spoke for him.

Among the many memories his family will treasure is his well-loved chopped BBQ. It was more than just a favorite meal; it was another expression of his love. Through the time, effort, and care he put into preparing it, Thomas created memories that his family will carry with them for years to come.

Thomas leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 60 years, Bishop Frances L. Bunn; his son, Jesse Bunn; his sisters, Earnestine Booker, Margaret Stroman (Albert), and Vivian Neal; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Elder Glenda Payne, Mary Smith, Margaret Bennerman and Ruth Bunn; and his brothers-in-law, James Bennerman (Josephine), Randolph Bennerman (Mary), Charles Bennerman (Sharon), and Lawrence Bennerman (Jacqueline).

He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will continue to honor and cherish his memory.

Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Bunn; his father-in-law, Deacon James Bennerman; and his mother-in-law, Mother Hazel Bennerman; his brother, James Willie Bunn; his sisters, Dorothy Baker and Shirley Riggins; his beloved son, Anthony Bunn; and his brothers-in-law, Bernard Riggins, David Smith, Bishop Alfred Payne, and Deacon Donnell Bennerman.

Though he is no longer with us physically, the love he gave, the memories he created, and the lessons he left behind will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
