Hey Auntie, I'm going to miss you so much. You were 1 of 1 and we were all so blessed to call you family. Thank you for all the lessons, love and laughter. I still can't believe I won't be able to call you or visit. Who am I going to joke with about our mutual chronic lateness with sending birthday gifts and cards (we were just early)? I blame that messed up clock that was always confidently off when it announced the time. 😅 I vividly remember the last time I saw you in person for Lavi's 6th birthday. Thank you for making the girls' first trip to New York unforgettable. We talked late into the morning and it was a gift to be in your presence again. And you blessed me with my vinyl starter kit. 🎵 So now I feel official! Remember how Laurel took you all over the house when she first learned how to walk and how she cried hard 3 years later when it was time for us to head home after visiting you? She knew then what we've always known; 1) we want to take you everywhere with us and share our victory laps with you; 2) it's impossible to be in your presence and not feel love. And the absence of your presence is a jolt to our hearts. But even when the tears pour like water from a broken faucet, I can also see your expression and hear your voice reminding me (and all of us) to keep going. Enjoy all the heavenly garden projects, good music and catching up with family and friends. I'll keep playing those vinyls, singing your praises, and honoring your legacy of family, charity and service. And I'll let you know when I figure out how to keep those squirrels out of my garden. I Love you so much! KK

A Beautiful & Blessed Soul Dearest Aunt Sophie. Words cannot begin to express my love for you and the sorrow that I feel for our family's loss. Countless friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, and people in & outside of your community have been impacted by your gifts. You traveled near and far to spend quality time with family and friends, and you modeled a legacy of love, a spirit of service, and a nurturing heart that extended above and beyond the Lord's expectations. You were faithful in using your gifts, talents, and resources to support others. Without hesitatation you would rise to the occasion to take others into your home, you visited the sick & shut-in, the mprisoned, and you provided care for those less fortunate. You never settled for less than the best, and you encouraged many to forge ahead through life's storms to successfully overcome trials. Your wisdom was infinite, your presence was lively, and your life experiences exemplified & replicated the message, "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God!" (Matthew 5:8) My heart is broken but will eventually find healing & peace through the beautiful memories you've left behind. Thank you for always being a guiding light in our family and for demonstrating how to live life to the fullest extent. You personified Matthew 25:35 and you've earned your crown 👑. The Lord said it best when He said, "Well done my good and faithful servant!" Well done my sweet and beautiful Aunt Sophie. I will always love you! May the Lord rest your soul in everlasting peace. 🙏🏾🕊 ❤️ Your Niece April Barrett

My deepest condolences in the passing of Sophie. I had the pleasure of meeting Sophie as her dental hygienist of over 15 years. My deepest condolences to Sophie's family. I met Sophie in the NYS Corrections Academy in Otisville in 1977. Sophie was an asset in the Academy to me and her fellow cadets. Always even keel and just a stand up person. Many years later we reconnected at Downstate and went on a road trip to Florida with my Mother-in-law, and it so happen, my Mother-in-law's sister and Sophie were good friends growing up and later were reunited. Sophie was always a pleasure to be around. She surely, will be missed. May Sophie rest in peace, and may the light from her love for her family always shine upon them.

Sophie was a dear friend. Often babysat our handicapped son Thomas and his brother Robert to give us a rest. We would talk for hours in my office at Camp Smith. We worked together to bring the camp into the computer age. Just a lovely human being. Our family will miss her. Go with God Sophie. Alex, Debbie, Robert and especially "Saint" Thomas.

Sophie, I am blessed to have known you, worked for you, learned from you, to have had your example not just on the job, but example of your Faith in my LIFE, even all of these years later. My nickname for you and one other was Mom. Because of your leadership, care, grace, and Faith. Even recently you were part of a circle when my niece had a major surgery and complications in 2025, you were one of those that I asked to lift her up in prayer. I knew if you lifted her up, that prayer message reached God! Now I pray always for your family, friends, work family and all blessed and touched by your life well lived. My words, a card, a poem, a song are not enough! I thank you Lord for blessing my life to have known Sophie (Mom)!
