Raymond J. Mallory Sr. was born on April 6, 1949, in Poughkeepsie, NY, to Robert J. Mallory Jr. and Zilphia Johnson Mallory. He was the third of five children. He was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church under Rev. Verner R. Matthews.
Raymond was a product of the Poughkeepsie school system and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School. He attended Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA. He later returned home and was employed by IBM as a Customer Engineer and by Metro-North Railroad as a signal repairman.
He was an avid outdoorsman with a strong affinity for hunting and fishing. After a few years, he decided to start his own business cutting and trimming trees.
Raymond later met and married Patricia Gruber. From this union, they had a son, Raymond "Petey" Mallory Jr. He enjoyed a good conversation and could hold court with the best of them. He was both a quiet soul at times and the life of the party at other times. He was well liked and had a close group of friends. He loved fast cars and cherished his Pontiac GTO and Camaro Z28.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his son, and his oldest sister, Zilphia Roberta (Mallory) Andrade.
He leaves to mourn his memory his niece, Jamila Andrade (Ernest McClendon); great-nieces, Jasmin Andrade, mother of Kashton, and twins Jayda and Jaylynn McClendon; sister Fannie (Mallory) Miller Beard (Gary Beard); nephew Daren Miller; grandniece Danesha Miller; great-nephew Zayne Heard; brother Robert Mallory III (Patricia); nieces Tamika Mallory and LaToya Mallory (Daniel Whipset); sister Joyce Goodman; niece Karima Cave; nephew Stanley Armin Goodman; and a host of cousins and friends.
