In Loving Memory of Monica McIntosh
Monica McIntosh, 63, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026.
Born on April 19, 1963, in Orlando, Florida, Monica lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, love, and laughter. She had a warm spirit and a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to everyone who knew her.
Monica dedicated her career to serving others. She worked as a Direct Support Professional for Taconic DDSO for ten years, where she compassionately cared for individuals with disabilities. More recently, she served as a Teacher’s Aide at the Early Learning Center (ELC) with the Poughkeepsie City School District. Monica had a special gift for working with children, especially those with disabilities, and she made a lasting difference in the lives of countless students.
Known affectionately throughout her neighborhood as “Nana,” Monica embraced every child she met with love, encouragement, and kindness. The children adored her just as deeply as she loved them. She also cherished every moment spent with her family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.
Monica will be remembered for her loving heart, infectious smile, quick wit, and unwavering compassion. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched through her kindness and selfless devotion to others.
She leaves to cherish her memory her four beloved children: Shayla, Johnee’, Schquella, and Marquis; her six treasured grandchildren: Sha’kari, Jaloni, Falynn, August, Tyreze, and Dailen; her loving sister, Joyrey McIntosh; her brother, Dennis Baker; and her cherished aunts, Evelyn Nesbit and Sandra Brown, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and all of the children whose lives she touched.
Monica was preceded in death by her loving parents, Luchious and Gladys McIntosh, and her beloved sisters, Mozella, Theresa, and Elaine.
Though Monica’s presence will be deeply missed, her love, laughter, and caring spirit will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to inspire kindness, compassion, and joy for generations to come.
