Marvin C. Winfield, 76, of Newburgh, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Born on December 11, 1949, Marvin was the son of the late Edward Winfield, Sr. and Sadie Johnson Winfield. He was a proud graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, where he excelled as a member of the track and cross-country teams. His exceptional athletic ability earned him school speed records in both cross-country and track that stood for many years.
Marvin proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-5). Following his honorable military service, he continued his commitment to serving others through more than twenty years of dedicated employment at the Castle Point Veterans Administration Medical Center, where he worked in nutrition and environmental services. Throughout his life, Marvin was known as a proud veteran whose unwavering dedication to his country, fellow veterans, and community reflected his character and sense of duty.
Marvin is survived by his loving niece and devoted caregiver, Melissa Winfield-Corbett, and her husband, Thomas, of Newburgh, New York. He is also survived by his sister, Frances Winfield, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was predeceased by his brothers, Edward Winfield, Jr., Robert Winfield, James Winfield, and Arthur Winfield.
