Lloyd Cleveland Simpson otherwise known as “Rocky” age 90, a resident of 
Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2024 after battling a series 
of illnesses.
Lloyd Cleveland Simpson was born on April 12, 1934 in Cupits District Clarendon, 
Jamaica. He was the son of the late Vantal Simpson and Lucille Brown. Lloyd 
attended the Park Hall Primary then moved on to Park Hall All Age School. He 
lost his dad at a young age and had to step up as a man to help support his mom. 
At age 18 he pursued a better life by enrolling in the farm work program. Lloyd met 
his wife Francella in 1958 they lived shortly together in nineturns, after which they 
built a house on Chatteau Road and expanded their family. Lloyd continued on the 
farm work program until he became a permanent resident in 1985. He work at 
Stanly Orchards after that he started working at Wassaic DDSO, he worked there 
for over ten years before he retired.
Lloyd loves professional boxing, cricket playing dominoes, fishing watching TV 
hanging out with friends and family. His favorite sayings was “man a man, man 
don’t bow“, man must stand up in love and don’t fall down in a love. Lloyd was a 
loving and caring person.
Lloyd is survived by his sons, Owen Simpson of Jamaica, Carlton Simpson (wife 
Shauna Simpson) of Massachusetts, Carl Simpson of England, Cleveland Simpson 
(wife Raquel Simpson) of Queens NY, Vantal Simpson (wife Cornelia Brown 
Simpson) of Brooklyn NY; daughters, Constantina Smith (husband Raymond 
Smith) of Hyde Park NY and Seprena Simpson of Jamaica; grandchildren, Roberto 
Edwards, Carlton Simpson Jr, Rasheif Gordon, Justin Simpson, Deishaun Simpson, 
Raphael Simpson, Matthew Simpson, Shaun-ti Duckworth, Raen Smith, Jade 
Simpson, Chelsea Simpson, McKemma Simpson, Shaunie Simpson; great-grand, 
London Madden. Lloyd is also survived by his brother, Norman Simpson as well 
as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his 
siblings, Justin Mitchell, Roslyn Simpson Cameron, Hazel Simpson, Del Simpson, 
Bobby Simpson, Fitzroy Simpson, Montgomery Simpson. He died leaving a bunch 
of friends and loved ones. Lloyd is loved and will be missed by his family and 
friends.
