Hubert Campbell, known as “Preacher,” was born in Trewlany, Jamaica, to Zelelda Dixon and Sam Campbell.
Hubert attended Duanvale All Age School in Trewlany, Jamaica. He worked as a mason in Jamaica and served in his local assembly for many years as a Deacon, and also played the guitar.
Hubert started traveling to the U.S. in the early seventies, working for Limbo and Sons Agriculture Farming in Modena, NY, for over twenty years. He later gained employment with Brooklyn Bottling Company in Milton, NY, in 2005 and remained there until 2025.
Hubert enjoyed listening to music and having fun with his family and friends. He was a very hard-working, dedicated individual. His employers loved that he always showed up to work with a smile and was always a joy to work with, never missing a day of work.
Hubert was preceded in death by his mother, Zelelda Dixon, and father, Sam Campbell.
He leaves behind his son, Denton Campbell, and daughter, Lolise Campbell, both of Jamaica; his two sisters, Loreen Dale-Geddes of Queens, NY, and Lilleth Dale of Queens, NY; and his beautiful grandchildren.
Hubert also leaves behind his lovely wife, Hartense Campbell, and six stepchildren: Betty Jean Currie of Utica, NY, Jessie Currie (Judy) of Newburgh, NY, Keith Currie (Virginia) of Smithfield, NC, Gloristine Wilson (Herbert) of Newburgh, NY, Wallace Currie of Newburgh, NY, and Sharon Currie of Charlotte, NC.
Hubert shared a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren with his wife. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, near and far.
