GENEVA TERRY OBITUARY
Mrs. Geneva Terry passed away at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital on July 16, 2024, in Newburgh, New York.
Geneva was born on July 14, 1919, in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, to the late R.L. and Eulah Robinson.
At age eighteen, she moved to New York, where she met and married the love of her life, Tyree Terry. They were married for 63 years and raised five children together.
Geneva's love for her family was unwavering, and she dedicated her life to their well-being and happiness.
She worked as a professional seamstress in the garment district and later as a paraprofessional in the New York City school system. At 60, Geneva obtained a B.S. in Education from Queens College. Upon completing her degree, she began teaching
elementary school in Queens, N.Y. Geneva was passionate about teaching and received numerous awards for her dedication to her students and the educational system.
After a thirty-five-year career in education, Geneva retired and moved to the Mid-Hudson Region with her husband. Even in retirement, she continued to share her love and care as a Home Health Aide, finally retiring at 80. Geneva joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1999 with her husband Tyree and daughter Bonnie. As a member, Geneva found great solace and community in her faith. Two of her most outstanding achievements and proudest moments were receiving the Mother of Sara Award and the Mother of the Year Award.
Geneva is survived by her five children and her sisters Ruby (106), Berniece (103), and Juanita (101), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Ray in Hardware (Home Depot Newburgh)
I'm Ray at the Newburgh Home Depot and met her daughter today, we lovingly talked about our passing and hugged eachother as Jesus watched us. Fear not, this fine lady rests in heaven, she is just fine. Kindest regards.
