Eugene Antonio Bush

Eugene Antonio Bush, 65, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, leaving behind a life filled with love, family, friendship, music, laughter, and countless memories. Eugene had a warm and welcoming smile that could light up a room and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was someone who could always be counted on to be there, rain, sleet, or snow. His consistency was admirable.

Eugene was the devoted husband and best friend of Jill Harper Bush, the love of his life. Their relationship was built on deep love and companionship. Eugene could often be found holding her hand. Others would point this out and comment on how beautiful it was and to never let go. He accompanied his wife to church and acknowledged God in his quiet and personable way. Eugene had faith and great expectations. He was both simple and complex at the same time, but uniquely himself.

Eugene also shared a close bond with his brothers. He, Gene, and Jimmy spoke every week. Those conversations were a meaningful part of the lifelong bond they shared since college. Moreover, he always took time to contact his baby sister to make sure she was doing okay.

A graduate of FDR High School in Hyde Park, Eugene was a four-year letterman in soccer and track and field. During his senior year, he placed second in the Dutchess County Outdoor Championships in the 330-yard intermediate hurdles. His love of sports continued throughout his life, and as an adult, he enjoyed swimming, going to the gym, cycling, and was a member of a cycling club.

Eugene graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He went on to receive his Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation and became a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).

Eugene was predeceased by his mother, Bettina (Francis), and father, Gene Bush, Sr.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jill Harper Bush; his twin brother, Gene Bush, and Gene’s wife, Sarah, of Los Angeles, California; his brothers, James and William Bush, both of Poughkeepsie, New York; and his sister, Tiffany Thomas, and her husband, Rahjer, of Buchanan, New York. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout the United States and U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as many dear friends.

Eugene’s life is a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful things are the simplest: showing up when you say you will, sharing a good meal, and giving the world a warm smile. He will be loved and missed always.
