Bettie Ruth Boykin, transitioned on the 25th of October 2024 in Homestead, FL.
She was born November 15, 1930, to the late Flossie Beamon and Joe King Sr. Bettie received her
education at Sampson High School in Clinton, NC. She worked at Newburgh Dress Factory and Regal
Bags for many years. Bettie was a faithful member for many years at Mt. Carmel Disciples of Christ, since the church was located on Colden Street; she served on the Nurses Ministry and the Senior Choir. Bettie’s favorite shows were Family Feud and Let’s Make A Deal. She also enjoyed watching her church services on Sunday mornings.
Left to cherish her memories are her 2 sons; Tommy Boykin of Homestead, FL, and Mack Boykin of
Newburgh, NY; one sister, Janice King of Clinton, NC; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins and friends.
Bettie was predeceased by her husband, Wilbert Boykin; daughter, Bettie Headspeth; 3 sisters, Ethel
Beamon, Lula Mae Mathis, and Gloria Boykin; 2 brothers, Theodore Beamon and Joe King Jr.
