Aston Gordon entered into rest on Monday, January 12, 2026. He was 81.
Aston, also known as Keith, was born on February 4, 1944, in St. Catherine, Jamaica, to Larchin and Ambrozene Gordon. When he came to America to make a better life for himself, he did exactly that.
Aston was an extremely hard worker; he worked for Gemark Corp. for over 20 years, then moved on to work for the Newburgh School District (Meadow Hill) for 12 years. There, he was loved and respected by many co-workers and vice versa.
Aston was nothing less than a family man. He loved his family. He was present for every event, holiday, birthday, etc. He will be remembered as the life of the party. As soon as one of his jams came on, he'd be right on the dance floor, throwing his right hand all the way up.
Sunday dinners were at his house; he'd sit in his chair, cracking jokes with the grandkids or having talks with his son, all while the girls cooked. He rarely ate with us because he was excited about all the leftovers he was going to have for the next few days.
He will be deeply missed.
Aston was a loving and devoted father to Cassandra Smith (Haron), Keyona Gordon, Keith Smith Sr. (Cynthia), and Joshua Smith Gordon Sr. (Deanna), all from Newburgh.
He was an amazing grandpa to 11 grandchildren: Laquasia, Tyrin, Oneil (Mookie), KeiAisha (Mami), KeiArah (Mami), Makayla, NyiArah (Mamito), Keith Jr. (Papito), Aaron (Shrimp), Amarion (Pump), and Jayden.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Willie, Joe, and Riley; one sister, Emily; one grandson, Joshua Smith Gordon Jr.; and his special friend, Linda Smith.
