Obituary For Alton R. Carey Jr.

Alton R. Carey departed this life on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Alton was born in Newburgh, NY on November 17, 1949, to the late Queenie Ester (Smith) Carey and Alton Roosevelt Carey. He attended school at the Newburgh Free Academy from which he graduated. He worked at Tarkett Manufacturing Company as a member of the GAF Local 445 Union for 35 years.

Alton is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lottie (Hobbs) Carey of Highland, NY where they resided for the past 47 years; his daughter, Lydia Campbell of Fayetteville, NC, and sister, Gwenie Carey of Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren, Ashlee Webb and Corey Green both of North Carolina; 3 great-grandchildren, Liliana and James Webb and Corrinne Green;
also a host of foster brothers.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Queenie Carey and a niece, Robin Carey.
