On December 8, 2024, our beloved mother, Mrs. Ruth A. Green, one of God’s most precious angels, was called home to rest while at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA. Ruth was born on January 6, 1947, in Dutchess County, to the late Annabelle Exum and Robert Sellers. Ruth was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend whose compassion and devotion were endless.
Ruth worked at IBM as a Computer analyst for 20 years. It was during her time at IBM that she met her lifelong, sadly predeceased husband, James R. Green. They wed on June 20, 1970, and spent 32 bliss-filled years together.
Ruth absolutely loved to bake desserts and relished in the joy on the faces of anyone who tasted her treats. She was also a seamstress and at times designed her full wardrobe all while being an avid jewelry aficionado. She knew how to style an outfit. Ruth became a member of the Beulah Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie, NY where she contributed to her community by preparing and serving meals to the homeless and donating clothing and basic items to anyone in need. She also had a love and skill set for bowling and was on a family bowling league for over 10 years where she received numerous acknowledgments. Lest we forget Ruth’s truest passion which was taking care of her family gave her the utmost joy. She could never get enough of spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Ruth A. Green is survived by her children: Tennille Green-Pegram (Timothy Pegram) and James Green, Jr, and her siblings: Micheal (Mike) Sellers (Evadnee); Paul (Pooh) Sellers (Geraldine); Bonita (Niecey) Sellers; Ricardo (Rick) Sellers; In-laws; Colleen Sellers; Julia Reed (Robert); Russell Green (Ester); Juanita Dallas; Jessie Gordon; Dora Green; William Green; a generous host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
