McArthur “Donnell” Floyd, 68 of Poughkeepsie, NY entered into
peaceful rest on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Hospice House.
McArthur was born in Marion, South Carolina on February 19, 1956
to the late Mary Elizabeth Louise Mott and Junior Gause. McArthur
left Marion, South Carolina to come to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1972.
He was employed at Eisner Brothers Salvage Company in
Poughkeepsie, NY for 27 years. Many who knew McArthur better
known as “Donnell” loved listening to his music and riding his ten
speed bike. Donnell also enjoyed fixing the young children bikes.
Many quotes that people will remember him say was “Neph” or
“Peace” he had a way of emphasizing these words.
McArthur leaves to cherish fond memories are his son, Lacy M.
Floyd of Tabor City, North Carolina; 2 daughters, Tonya M. Smith
and Margie Floyd both of Tabor City, North Carolina; and 9
grandchildren. McArthur also leaves 2 brothers, Jimmy E. Floyd
and Jessie L. Floyd both of Poughkeepsie, NY; 2 sisters, MaryAnn
Mott of New Rochelle, NY and Willimenia Vandross of Baltimore,
MD and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents and his ex-wife, McArthur is
predeceased by his son, McArthur Floyd Jr.; 2 sisters and one
brother.
