Johnnie Mott

Johnnie L. Mott (known as Rico) was 87 years of age, passed on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Montefiore St Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. A resident of Highland Falls, NY. Mr. Johnnie was born August 28, 1937, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Robert Mott and Flora M. Bannerman (Nelson).

Johnnie proudly served his country in the Army for ten years, including twenty-two years in the Army and Air Force National Guard and nineteen years as a New York State Trooper. Received an Associate Degree in Applied Science. He was an affectionate, dedicated, hardworking individual who always put the needs of others ahead of his own. His personality brought warmth and joy to everyone he encountered, and his passing will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew and loved him. His other interests included travel, oil painting, and listening to smooth music. He was a long-standing member of the Fraternal Order of Police (lodge #188) and a Member of the Anthony Moscarella Post#199 / Spring Valley American Legion.

Johnnie truly lived life through chatting with friends and family. Johnnie had an uncanny ability to reach people deeply and positively. He is survived by his longtime companion, Mrs. Carmen I. Mott, for seventeen years, and is survived by two brothers, James Mott and Ronald Davidson, and three sisters, Geneva Turner, Elizabeth Mott, and Joann Young. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his children. Johnnie R. Mott Jr, Shirley Mott, Linda D. (Mott)Outlaw, Wanda Weatherspoon, Winona K. Mott, and Dessera’e Mott, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. family, friends, and others. In addition, Johnnie lost several brothers and sisters: Robert Mott Jr, Jah B. Mataram, Charles Holden, Charles Mott, Roberta Johnson, Lethia Mott, Emma Young, Mary Mott, and Thelma Paye.

Johnnie will be remembered as an amazing family man. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.. His enthusiasm, humor, and integrity will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and colleagues alike.
