Sister Barbara O’neal Tillman of Newburgh, NY, was born on November 8, 1942, in Gastonia, NC. She entered into rest on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY.
Barbara graduated from Highland High School in Gastonia, NC, in 1960. Barbara migrated to Newburgh, New York, in the 70’s, where she made it her home for 60-plus years. While building a home in Newburgh, she started her journey by working at Litron Lighting. Barbara had a love for people, which led her to pursue a career in nursing and become a home healthcare provider. In her last years before retiring, she worked at West Point Tours, where she served as a bus monitor. Barbara loved to read the Bible and watch Murder, She Wrote. Barbara was a stylish woman; she loved her perfume and jewelry.
Barbara loved God as well as her church family. She was a dedicated, dependable, and loyal member of Heaven Bound Church of Deliverance, where she served as the church secretary, a member of the choir, taught Sunday school, and served as an usher.
Now that Barbara has completed her race, she leaves to cherish her precious memories, her four sisters: (best friend) Fairlene Grant “Eartha” of Newburgh, NY; Georgia Thompson, Faye Harris, and Vickie Givens (Reginald), all of Gastonia, NC; special Nieces, Laqueatta Phillips (Franklin) of Gastonia, NC, April Hall and Erika Hall, both of Newburgh, NY, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Hayward Tillman, her parents, Cliffton and Maggie Glenn, three brothers, Ralph Glenn, Lewis Glenn, and George Ray Glenn; one sister, Sarah Paton; one niece, Adrienne Calloway; one great-nephew, Leon Ponder; and one great-great-nephew, Rayshawn Hall.
