Louise A. Thompson

October 18 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Louise Alice Thompson (Green) passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, in Fairbanks, AK, at the age of 110. Born on June 7, 1914, in Orange County, Virginia.

Louise’s parents relocated to Poughkeepsie NY, when she was six months old, where she grew to become a renowned culinary expert. She was affectionately known as “the Little Brown Chef” by the Roosevelts’ son, who was particularly fond of her apple pies. In 2001, after decades of enriching the Dutchess County community with her talents, she moved to Fairbanks to be closer to her family. Louise lived on her own until she was 107. A dedicated True Victory Baptist Church member in North Pole, AK, Louise was deeply involved in her church and community. She was instrumental in founding a senior exercise group in Fairbanks, emphasizing her commitment to health and wellness. Before relocating to Alaska, Louise was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she began her membership at the age of 17.

Louise is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Diane Leavy; her grandson, Robert Ellis Cave III (Sue); her granddaughter, Arvetta DonaldsonHenderson (Wanda); her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of cousins, friends, and church family both nationally and internationally. She was preceded in death by her parents James & Camora Spottswood, her sisters, Marie and Hellen, her granddaughter Leslie Denys Cave, her first husband, James Andrew Green, her second husband, Joseph H. Thompson Sr., and her son-in-law, Fennell Leavy.
