Douglas W. Williams Sr.

July 1 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Douglas Wayne Williams Sr. passed away on June 17, 2024, in Newburgh, NY. Douglas was born on November 4, 1962, in Newburgh, NY, to Fred D. Williams Jr. and Esteen Williams.

Douglas graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1981. He attended DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated in 1986. He returned to Newburgh, NY, and worked for Hobart as a field technician and at Child World’s Newburgh warehouse. Douglas became a New York State Office of Children and Family Services career employee at The Highland Residential Center. He worked there for 27 years as a Youth Division Aide and retired.

He is survived by his mother Esteen Williams, sisters Dr. Lorraine Williams (Dr. David Reid) and Leslie Miles, brothers Steven Williams and Daniel Williams, former spouse, Sheila Hudson, son, Douglas (DJ) Williams Jr., stepson, Jason Singleton, many nieces and nephews and host of other family members and friends.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father Fred Williams Jr., sister Joyce Williams, and brother Patrick Williams.

Douglas was outgoing and had many friends. He enjoyed being with the people closest to him and making sure they were always entertained and taken care of. He enjoyed listening to and curating music, and collecting an abundance of CDs, records, and cassette tapes. He loved helping his friend John Lacy (D.J Jazz) with music events which grew his passion further. He loved to feed his family, always cooking on the grill with his signature dish being catfish (yum) and making that a regular family tradition. He loved traveling, taking any chance to drive out of the state, even if it meant a 12-hour drive to spend time with his family and friends. A man who always put others before himself, people would say, who wouldn’t mind being uncomfortable to make sure others are secure. A loving father who taught his sons the value of being a true man. A loving son who would do anything for his parents. A loving brother who made sure his siblings (older or younger) knew he was always there for them. A true friend who made it his mission to make sure they knew he cared about them.
