Carmel Church of Christ\, Disciples of Christ\, Inc. She was a soldier in God’s army\, serving in numerous capacities locally\, on the district\, and national levels. \nAs a devoted political activist\, she championed many community agencies and programs\, including the Coalition for People’s Rights\, for which she served as the Executive Director for 25 years. \nShe is survived by her beloved sister\, Minnie Pearl Wynn\, many sons\, daughters\, relatives\, and friends\, and was predeceased by her husband\, William J. Tallie.

He kept us laughing. He had a beautiful sense of humor and loved to dance. Chris would start dancing when he heard some of his favorite songs. He leaves a void in our hearts. \nChris leaves behind 1 sister Menessa Polk-Porter\, 5 brothers\, Arthur Lee Polk Jr\, Antoine Polk\, James Polk\, Frank Polk and Michael Polk. Aunt\, Susie “Starr” Williams and Uncles William Richardson and Joseph Williams and a host of nieces\, nephews and cousins. \nChris will truly be missed and forever in our hearts\, we love you.

She relocated to Poughkeepsie\, New York\, in 2008 with her youngest son and was later joined by three of her children. \nShirley was loved\, and all who she met were touched by her warm spirit and her empathic nature. Her home was welcoming\, and it was where laughter and good Jamaican home cooking were found. Her love for sports was like none other\, and she became the point of reference for scores\, updates\, and future events. She also worked in healthcare\, where she impacted many lives and residents. Families\, coworkers\, and residents thought highly of how she executed her duties with compassion. \nShe is survived by her children\, Bonica Thawe\, Taniesha Powell\, Shaneen Brown\, Kyle Robinson\, Tahjae Davis\, and son-in-law Devon Thawe. Grandchildren -Tahj Thawe\, Jabari Thawe\, Christian Rochester\, and Jaxson Easter. Other families include Stepsons\, Sisters\, Brothers\, Nephews\, Nieces\, Aunts\, Uncles\, Cousins\, and Husband (separated). \nTo know her was to love her; she will be greatly missed. We thank you sincerely for your prayers and support during this difficult time.

DESCRIPTION:Audley Roy Thompson\, affectionately known as “Tom\,” passed away peacefully on September 19\, 2025\, at the age of 81. \nBorn on December 8\, 1943\, in Portland\, Jamaica\, Audley was the beloved son of the late Esmay Thompson and the late Reginald Thompson. He attended Maidstone Primary and All Age School from grade 1 through grade 9. \nIn his early years\, Audley worked in Kingston\, Jamaica\, as a security guard before migrating to New York\, United States\, in 1972 through the farm work program. His journey reflected his strong work ethic\, resilience\, and dedication to building a better life for his family. \nAudley is survived by his three sons: Audley Thompson\, Troy Thompson\, and Channer Thompson; two cherished grandchildren\, Amera Thompson and Dejeuner Thompson; and his siblings\, Veronica Thompson\, Delrose Thompson\, Illeen Thompson\, Ruel Thompson\, and Daskell Thompson. \nHe was predeceased by his parents\, Esmay and Reginald Thompson\, and his brother\, Mordicai Thompson. He will be remembered for his strength\, kindness\, and the love he shared with those closest to him.
