DESCRIPTION:Eva Maud Smith peacefully transitioned on February 12\, 2025. \nBorn in Lenox Bigwood\, Carmel\, Westmoreland\, Jamaica\, on November 30\, 1945\, Eva was the beloved daughter of the late Adina and George Tomlinson. She received her education in the Shantily School District in Bigwood\, Westmoreland. \nEva later moved to Port Antonio\, Portland\, where she met the love of her life\, Wilbert Smith. Their union was celebrated on June 12\, 1971\, and together they welcomed three wonderful children: Gary Smith (married to Sophia) Cleve Smith (married to Terryann)\, and Ernie Smith (Denise). Eva and Wilbert migrated to Poughkeepsie\, New York\, on May 4\, 1995\, in pursuit of new opportunities. Eva dedicated her career to Vassar Brothers Medical Center\, where she worked until her retirement in 2011. Upon her arrival in the U.S.\, Eva found a loving church home at 19 North Clover Street\, where she became an integral part of the community as a Pastor’s Aide and Evangelist. She was well-known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills\, delighting many with her Easter buns\, puddings\, cakes\, and other beloved Jamaican treats. \nEva is survived by her devoted husband\, Wilbert Smith\, her three sons\, Gary (Sophia)\, Cleve (Terryann)\, and Ernie (Denise )\, along with 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also mourned by her two brothers Exie Smith (Lloyd)\, and Cornelius Tomlinson (popsie)\, one sister Elvina Tomlinson (Vida)\, and a large extended family of nieces\, nephews\, cousins\, and friends. \nIn honor of her memory\, donations can be made to the Poughkeepsie Church. 19 North Clover Street Poughkeepsie\, New York \n

SUMMARY:Frank M. King
DESCRIPTION:Frank M. King\, Age 90\, of Highland Falls\, NY\, was called to his eternal heavenly home on February 12\, 2025. \nBorn on December 6\, 1934\, in Montgomery\, AL\, to Carrie Squaire and Ezekiel King\, Frank was raised in Toledo\, OH. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1954\, serving as a Motor Transport Operator. He was stationed at Ft. Eustis\, VA\, Metz\, France\, and the U.S. Army Military District in West Point\, NY. Frank proudly served for six years\, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and being honorably discharged. \nAfter his military service\, Frank moved to Highland Falls\, NY\, in 1960\, he later met and married Dorothy L. Brown. They were blessed to spend 59 years together. \nFrank worked in the Engineering Department at West Point\, NY as an Engineer Equipment Operator\, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement\, he continued his work as a contractor for the West Point Motor Pool from 1990 to 2016. \nFrank\, a loving husband\, father\, grandfather\, and great-grandfather\, cherished spending time with his family. His devotion to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a highlight of his life. Frank was a longtime member of St. John’s A.M.E. Zion Church in Highland Falls\, NY\, where he served on the Trustee Board for many years. He will be remembered for his warm personality\, encouraging conversations\, and the deep love he shared with family and friends. Frank was generous with his time\, always ready to help others\, and loved discussing sports\, and history\, and sharing his witty sense of humor. \nFrank is survived by his devoted wife\, Dorothy; his children\, Jose J. Gonzalez (wife Janet) of Poughkeepsie\, NY\, Frank G. King of Long Island\, NY\, and Shirletta R. King of Nyack\, NY; eight\ngrandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces\, nephews\, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father\, Ezekiel King; stepfather\, Rosevelt Jones; mother\, Carrie Jones; brothers\, Eddie Lee King\, Willie D. King\, and Rudolph Jones; and sisters\, Kairltine Sanders and Phyllis Jones. \nThough Frank’s physical presence is no longer with us\, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew and loved him. \nA Celebration of Life service will be held in honor of Frank M. King on March 1\, 2025\, at Rhodes Funeral Home\, 18 Lake Street\, Newburgh\, NY. The viewing will take place from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM\, followed immediately by the Homegoing Service. The service will be broadcast live on [XXX channel].

SUMMARY:Annie Ruth Whiteside
DESCRIPTION:Annie Ruth Whiteside got her heavenly wings on February 14\, 2025\, when she was 94 years old. \nShe was born on February 9\, 1931\, in Spartanburg\, South Carolina\, to the late Susanna and William Cloud. She attended the public schools of Spartanburg County. \nShe became the “Femme a charge” (woman in charge) of the Cloud clan matriarch Susanna Cloud\, along with her six siblings\, who made the migration from the South to New York in 1956. She and some of the other siblings decided to make Newburgh their home. \nShe worked at the Vickie Clothing Factory for several years to ensure that the Cloud clan matriarch was well taken care of and took care of her until Susanna Cloud’s death on January 1\, 1970. \nAffectionately known as “Aunt Ruth\,” she enjoyed gospel music and an occasional game of spades and bid whist. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of Christ\, Disciples of Christ\, under Bishop GW Johnson’s pastorship. To fulfill some of her lifelong dreams\, she visited Mexico\, Jamaica\, the Cayman Islands\, Puerto Rico\, and the Bahamas. \nAunt Ruth had only one biological child\, Darrin Keith\, who was her heart\, but she was a “mother hen” to several of her nephews and nieces. \nShe was pre-deceased by five of her sisters\, Martha Troy\, Magdalene Smith\, Rosa Lee Miller\, Anna Louise Cooper\, and Loretta Montgomery\, and one brother\, David Cloud. She leaves to mourn her loving spirit\, one son\, Darrin Keith Whiteside of Killeen\, Texas\, and one sister\, Joyce “Ibetia” Cloud of Newburgh\, New York\, one grandchild\, Brittany Clark of Asheville\, North Carolina\, one great-granddaughter\, Elise and one great-grandson Chase\, both of Asheville\, NC\, and a host of other grandchildren\, great-grandchildren\, nieces\, nephews\, and friends.

DESCRIPTION:Lenwood Earl Williams was born on May 1\, 1944\, to the late James Henry Williams and Mary Elizabeth Williams in Rocky Mount\, NC. \nDelaval Dairy previously employed Lenwood in Poughkeepsie\, NY until their closing. He then went to work for the School Transit System until he retired. Lenwood was very artistic and crafty with his hands. He loved working on bikes; particularly putting them together and making them from spare parts. He also loved making and putting together antique cars. Lenwood was a hobbyist and collector of antique model cars\, remote-controlled cars\, and other collectibles. He loved his family but was a very private person. \nHe is survived by his children\, Elizabeth Williams\, Lenwood Williams Jr.\, Tanisha Williams\, Anita Williams\, and Yulonda Blake. Lenwood is also survived by his grandchildren\, Raevon Collins\, Shyquan Collins\, Jasmine Green\, Jalen Green\, Tatyuanna Garrett\, Scottiana Garrett\, Da’Zay Williams\, Zhane Williams\, and Nyla Williams; great-grandchildren\, RaNiyah Collins\, Raevon Collins Jr.\, Zayvon Collins\, Shyasia Collins\, Envy Collins\, Zayvion Collins\, Irael Diamond\, Lanyx Diamond\, Brian Atkins\, Reminisce Green\, Royalty Green\, Truth Green\, Jayani Rivera and Ta’Syi Diedrick; fiance’\, Renee Stokes and a host of family and friends. \nIn addition to his parents\, James Henry Williams and Mary Elizabeth Williams\, he is preceded in death by his wife\, Hollace Williams; grandson\, Brian Atkins Jr. and great-grandson\, Nature Green. \nAs our Father would always say “Don’t say Goodbye say see you later” \nGoodbye means forever but I’ll see you later. \nHe will be truly missed.

SUMMARY:Lloyd Smith
DESCRIPTION:Lloyd Smith went home to the Lord on March 3\, 2025\, at 86. Lloyd was a dedicated and wonderful husband\, a fantastic father\, and a loyal and supportive friend. He will be missed greatly. \nLloyd was born in Lennox Big Woods\, Westmoreland\, Jamaica on September 22\, 1938\, to Adina Tomlinson and Horatio Smith. After attending Chantilly All-Age School\, Lloyd moved to Kingston\, Jamaica where he worked as a mason. Lloyd’s sister\, Elvena Tomlinson\, who was also living in Kingston at the time\, played the role of matchmaker and introduced Lloyd to her friend Icelyn (“Peggy”) Smith. From that initial introduction\, Lloyd and Peggy spent 52 cherished years together. Lloyd and Peggy have one son\, Arthur A. Smith. The family immigrated to Poughkeepsie\, New York\, in the early 1980s. Lloyd spent twenty years working at Wassaic DDSO and retired in October 2009. Lloyd loved watching thoroughbred horse racing and his beloved NY Yankees\, working in his garden\, and maintaining his home. \nLloyd is survived by his wonderful wife Peggy\, his son Arthur\, and grandchildren Amir and Leila. He is mourned by his sister Elvena\, his brother Cornelius (“Popsie”) Tomlinson\, and a large extended family of nieces nephews\, cousins\, and friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his mother Adina\, father Horatio\, sisters Edna Dennis and Eva Smith\, and brother Melvis Tomlinson. \nIn place of flowers\, the family asks that you please make donations in Lloyd’s name to St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie\, New York.
