SUMMARY:Anthony Hough
DESCRIPTION:Anthony “Tony” Hough was born the second of four sons to Mosco Hough\, Sr. and Mary Lunsford Hough on June 8\, 1957. A proud native of Buffalo\, New York\, he was educated in the Buffalo Public School system and graduated from Kensington High School in 1975. From there\, he went on to enroll at The State University of New York at Brockport where he double majored in African American Studies and Criminal Justice. Unsure if the school was for him\, he left Brockport and enlisted in the Army; after being stationed in Fort Gordon\, GA\, he was honorably discharged. In 1979\, he returned to Brockport where he would unknowingly meet the love of his life\, Wendy Evans. \nUpon graduating from Brockport\, Tony began his career in what was then known as the New York State Division for Youth (eventually called the Office of Children and Family Services – OCFS) under the tutelage of his mentor Thom McGregor at Industry Residential Center in Rochester\, New York as a Youth Division Aide. After a few years\, he moved to New York City\, where he worked at the Aftercare Center in The Bronx\, several group homes in Brooklyn\, and eventually the Harlem State Office Building. \nTony and Wendy married in 1988 and welcomed their first child\, Cameron in 1991 while living in Mount Vernon\, New York. Two years and eight months later they welcomed Nicholas\, and so began the family’s tour of New York State. From 1993 Tony worked at Highland Secure Center\, Brookwood Secure Center in Claverack\, NY\, McCormick Secure Center in Ithaca\, NY\, and Harlem Valley Secure Center in Wingdale\, NY where he was appointed facility director in 1996 and remained until it closed in 2004. He retired in 2014 as Associate Commissioner for Facilities in Albany\, NY after 32 years with the agency\, having made countless lifelong friendships along the way. \nEager to instill the traditions\, values\, and faith he learned growing up in the Baptist church in Buffalo\, Tony and Wendy sought a church home once they landed in Dutchess County. He was a proud member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for many years and dearly loved his church family. He regularly lent his passion for photography to a variety of Church and Youth Ministry events and was named Mt. Zion Baptist Church Father of the Year in 2001. \nOnce he retired from OCFS\, Tony enjoyed continuing to nurture his passions for cooking\, photography\, and traveling the country to cheer on his beloved Buffalo Bills. He frequently took trips to Buffalo with friends and family to take advantage of his season tickets\, and regularly entertained old and new friends alike with his elaborate tailgate spreads and generosity of spirit whether before a game or in the stands. He found a second calling when he picked up a part-time job working the front desk at the Fishkill Marriott\, where his gregarious nature and bright spirit earned him Employee of the Month multiple times. \nOver the years\, Tony established a reputation as a dedicated boss\, a tireless advocate for youth\, a talented grill master\, and a passionate host. He’d regularly cook for friends and family for any occasion at all—whether the annual Memorial Day cookout\, Super Bowl Sunday or to welcome friends from out of town. He spent years perfecting his marinades and rubs and became famous for his barbecue ribs. \nTony made friends everywhere he went. Whether darting around his favorite local haunts in the Hudson Valley or making friends in the Highmark Stadium parking lot ahead of a Bills game\, he’d regularly come home telling stories of the strangers who became friends in the afternoon\, and friends who eventually became family. \nHe is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Wendy\, daughter Cameron\, son Nicholas\, brother Ronald\, and a host of cousins\, friends\, and colleagues who will dearly remember his legacy of positivity and good cheer.

SUMMARY:Lillie Patricia Thomas
DESCRIPTION:Lillie Patricia Thomas\, daughter of the late Jessie Mae Lloyd-Pringle and Lindberg Pringle Sr.\, was born on April 24th\, 1947\, in Sumter\, SC. She started her early education in South Carolina\, and when it was time\, the family later relocated to the Big Apple\, New York City. She graduated from Brandeis High School. Her future accomplishments would range in various fields\, including Hair\, Business\, Theology\, Early Childhood Education\, and Real Estate. \nAs she matured and grew in life\, she met a young man\, Mr. Raymond Cavassa. This relationship produced her eldest daughter\, Charade M. A. Cavassa. Lillie\, or Miss Pat\, for those who are familiar calling her that\, worked at Beekman Downtown Hospital for several years as a secretary. While striving for excellence in life\, a young man\, Richard D. Thomas\, caught her eye and eventually captured her heart. Richard and Patricia’s love led them to Holy Matrimony. From that union\, Richard D. Thomas (preceded in death)\, Mark C. Thomas (preceded in death)\, and Takiya C. Thomas were born. \nLillie\, aka Miss Pat\, always had the mentality and dreams of being an entrepreneur. Her grandkids would say she was more like a Mogul. She earned her cosmetology degree from Wilfred Academy. She also earned her Real Estate License. Patricia was a gifted visionary. Her work throughout New York led her to own several businesses. She opened her first salon in Jamaica\, Queens. Does anybody remember the location in the Gertz Mall? That was in 1980! Her humanitarianism began when she started a soup kitchen in Harlem\, where she would help provide hot meals and distribute bags of food to those in need. \nPatricia eventually relocated her family to Newburgh\, NY. She was a God-fearing woman of faith. Her quotes included\, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” and “I am a child of the Most High”. Lillie truly and unapologetically loved the Lord. She would profess the goodness of God during her good and not-so-good days. Even when she wasn’t feeling the best\, you would still find her outside praying and ministering to the people\, and there was no limit to where God would send her. \nPatricia always had a soft spot for children and babies. She saw a need for children in the city of Newburgh\, so she started a partnership with Toys for Tots in Newburgh. That fellowship introduced other opportunities\, such as Angel Tree\, Church Fellowships\, and community organizations. She established a church called “Repairer of the Breach.” \nGod blessed her with many gifts and a heart for helping others. Those blessings allowed her to network with people from all phases of life. She never had a problem\, consulting and advising because she had a vast knowledge of everything. It was in Newburgh\, NY that she continued paving her way in the beauty industry\, creating her lane in the media via her Radio Station Sermons\, starting a couple of restaurants\, opening a daycare\, and even working in the prison ministry. Her most prized possession was her salon\, Finesse II Capri. When she spoke of it\, her smile would be wider than the Kool-Aid man. She opened up a soul food restaurant\, and another called Hot Diggity Dog. She would feed\, clothe\, and provide shelter for the homeless. \nOur mommy\, Lillie Patricia Thomas\, was an amazing woman\, daughter\, sister\, wife\, mother\, aunt\, grandmother\, great-grandmother\, guardian\, creator\, seamstress\, teacher\, and editor who started Torch Magazine. When it came to helping people in the community\, she was dedicated\, and people referred to her as “Ms. Pat.” In her 77 years on this earth\, she has done so much for so many that there is not enough room to display all of her accomplishments. \nMs. Lillie Patricia Thomas is survived by her sister Sandra Harris\, brother Samuel Pringle\, and sister Mary Cleveland\, all of New York\, sister Martha Corpening of North Carolina\, and Sister Maxine Smith of Pennsylvania. Her 2 daughters Charade Mack and Takiya Thomas.
