She was greatly loved by everyone who knew her. Florence enjoyed shopping\, family gatherings\, and taking vacations with family and friends. She will be sadly missed. \nFlorence will be cherished in memory by her husband Anthony Shipman Sr. daughters Tonieann (Charles) Trane (Marshall) of Newburgh\, sons Anthony Jr. (Karen) of Newburgh\, Marc (Yolanda)of Buffalo\, and brothers Oliver (Angela) and Vincent (Vicky) McNair of Newburgh. \nShe also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Guy\, Gemele\, Ron III\, Quentin\, Latrice\, Marco\, Keegan\, Karmone\, Naziah\, and Macayla. Also 12 great-grandchildren: Alaysia\, Taliesha\, Christian\, Gianni\, Treasure\, Aiden\, Joseph\, Harmony\, Aloni\, Avaiyah\, Laya\, and Maliq\, and a host of nephews and cousins. \nFlorence was predeceased by parent Lawrence (Elizabeth) McNair\, daughter Antoinette Shipman\, grandson Anthony Shipman III\, sisters Joyce Russell and Diane Peterkins\, brother Lawrence McNair Jr\, nephews Jerry and Jalil McNair

DESCRIPTION:Douglas Wayne Williams Sr. passed away on June 17\, 2024\, in Newburgh\, NY. Douglas was born on November 4\, 1962\, in Newburgh\, NY\, to Fred D. Williams Jr. and Esteen Williams. \nDouglas graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1981. He attended DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus\, Ohio\, and graduated in 1986. He returned to Newburgh\, NY\, and worked for Hobart as a field technician and at Child World’s Newburgh warehouse. Douglas became a New York State Office of Children and Family Services career employee at The Highland Residential Center. He worked there for 27 years as a Youth Division Aide and retired. \nHe is survived by his mother Esteen Williams\, sisters Dr. Lorraine Williams (Dr. David Reid) and Leslie Miles\, brothers Steven Williams and Daniel Williams\, former spouse\, Sheila Hudson\, son\, Douglas (DJ) Williams Jr.\, stepson\, Jason Singleton\, many nieces and nephews and host of other family members and friends. \nDouglas was preceded in death by his father Fred Williams Jr.\, sister Joyce Williams\, and brother Patrick Williams. \nDouglas was outgoing and had many friends. He enjoyed being with the people closest to him and making sure they were always entertained and taken care of. He enjoyed listening to and curating music\, and collecting an abundance of CDs\, records\, and cassette tapes. He loved helping his friend John Lacy (D.J Jazz) with music events which grew his passion further. He loved to feed his family\, always cooking on the grill with his signature dish being catfish (yum) and making that a regular family tradition. He loved traveling\, taking any chance to drive out of the state\, even if it meant a 12-hour drive to spend time with his family and friends. A man who always put others before himself\, people would say\, who wouldn’t mind being uncomfortable to make sure others are secure. A loving father who taught his sons the value of being a true man. A loving son who would do anything for his parents. A loving brother who made sure his siblings (older or younger) knew he was always there for them. A true friend who made it his mission to make sure they knew he cared about them.

DESCRIPTION:Geraldine Thomas McKenzie 75\, a life-long resident of Poughkeepsie\, NY transitioned into eternal rest at home\, surrounded by family on June 24\, 2024. \nDeaconess Dr. Geraldine Thomas McKenzie\, affectionately known as “Gerry” to family and friends\, was born and raised in the city of Poughkeepsie\, NY\, and is the daughter of the late Bertha May Thomas and Gerald Anderson. \nDr. McKenzie was employed at Hudson River Psychiatric Center (HRPC) for more than thirty years as a Mental Health Therapy Aide and Rehab Assistant\, retiring in the year 2010. In addition\, she continued to work in the community through work at the HRPC Crisis Residence as a crisis helpline operator\, as shared staff with Dutchess County Mental Hygiene\, as well as serving in the capacity of Community Liaison and Teachers Aide in the Poughkeepsie School District. \nDr. McKenzie was a supporter and also rendered services with Care Net Pregnancy Center\, American Cancer Society\, Battered Women’s Program of Family Services\, and American Heart Association and was a business partner with daughter Ondie James of Majesty 6:33 Productions and Women on a Mission. \nShe attended Poughkeepsie city schools and Dutchess Community College. Geraldine also holds a Bachelor and Master of Theology Sacred Degree from The Savona V. Roberts Christian Education Academy in Poughkeepsie\, NY (formerly known as the Community Bible Institute) where she also served as the Office Administrator\, Head Registrar and Student Counselor and Bible School Instructor. Additionally\, Geraldine holds a Master’s degree and Doctorate in Humanities from Sparrow Springs Bible College and Seminary of Gastonia\, NC. She is an Academician of the Eastern Theological Consortium\, through Christ Theological Seminary\, Yonkers NY. \nHer memberships include Academician and a Fellow of the Consortium from Christ Theological Seminary – Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Yonkers\, NY. She was also awarded a Humanitarian Award and Faithful Christian Service Award by this distinguished group. \nDr. McKenzie was also a recipient of the Lincoln Douglass Luncheon Award and received a Black Achievers Award\, sponsored by the Beulah Baptist Church of Poughkeepsie\, NY. \nA woman of strong faith\, Geraldine was a member and Christian educator at Beulah Baptist Church\, under the covering of Rev. Jesse V. Bottoms\, Jr. She was consecrated as a Deaconess in 1995 and was the servant leader of the Above Rubies Women’s Ministry for thirteen years and was President of the Victorious Overcomers Cancer Ministry. Geraldine received many awards and honors during her Christian Walk including but not limited to New Covenant Church of the Holy Spirit\, Ministries of Beulah Baptist Church\, honoree of the Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Club\, Sportsman Cricket Club\, and the Battered Women’s Program \nGeraldine was a woman of many gifts and talents as a business consultant\, life coach\, event planner\, philanthropist\, mentor\, marriage and Christian counselor\, avid reader\, and writer\, and her passion was teaching the Word of God. Her legacy will live on always. \nDr. McKenzie is survived by her loving husband of 44 years\, Seaton A. McKenzie\, Daughters: Ondie James (Ronald)\, Shellese Tucker (Batiste)\, Stacy McKenzie\, Son: Seaton McKenzie\, Jr. Brothers in law: Kelvin\, Crafton\, Orville\, Victor\, Jellicoe\, Veron\, Milton\, Byron\, Leford\, Ralston\, Courtney\, Kingsley. Sisters-in-law: Verona\, Avis\, Sandra\, Gloria\, Jeane\, Jackie\, Corida\, Sylvia\, Dorian\, Eldred\, Janet\, Gerda. Grandchildren: Shamari\, Ondasia\, Elisha\, Majestic\, Sadaja\, Manny\, Zephaniah\, Javani\, Seatigha\, Marcel. DESCRIPTION:Her final resting place was Kindred Hospital of New Jersey. \nHer children survive Henrietta: Harriet H. Hamilton (Newburgh)\, Terry J. Burden (Newburgh)\, Tamika R. Bryant (Newburgh)-grandchildren and great-grandchildren – her nephew Alfred L. Burden (Newburgh)\, and her long-time companion\, Thomas Bryant (Fitzgerald\, GA). \nShe is preceded in death by Ardie Burden (her mother)\, Mac Burden (her father)\, Nathaniel Burden and Stephanie Jackson (her children)\, Tiffany Lasane\, Kevin Burden\, Terry J. Burden\, and Calvin Burden (her grandchildren)\, and great-grandson Jaxson Hardgrove. \nSpecial people in her life outside of her family included Catherine Rose\, Leslie Smith-Burch\, and Tamika Jackson\, who was like a niece to her. \nAlthough Henrietta was born in Fitzgerald\, GA\, she grew up in Newburgh and attended Newburgh Free\nAcademy. She worked as a nurse’s aide and home health aide. She was a professional caregiver who\ntook care of family members. \nHenrietta enjoyed spending time with family and friends\, playing bingo\, and dancing. She was also an\nexcellent cook\, with her specialty being a favorite crock pot Stew. Her favorite snacks were Lorna\nDoones and she often sent her son Terry to the store to purchase them. She even got the nurse at the\nfacility where she resided to purchase Lorna Doones. \nIf you knew her\, then you knew one of her favorite phrases was “child\, please!” When family members\nvisited\, as they were getting ready to leave\, she would send them off with a “God bless you!” Henrietta’s\nfavorite songs were “Jesus I Love Calling Your Name” by Shirley Caesar and “I’ll Be Ready” by Yolanda\nAdams. \nHenrietta will be missed by family and friends. Her final resting place will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.\nPallbearers: Nashon Burden\, Adrian Hargrove\, Deandre Connors\, and Mark Mallory (grandchildren)

DESCRIPTION:Arvenia Jackson Brown of Wappingers Falls\, NY departed this life peacefully on Saturday\, July 6\,\n2024 at home. She was 88. \nThe daughter of the late Ellis Jackson and Edith Baldwin\, Arvenia was born in Sparks\, GA on\nJanuary 24\, 1936. She was raised by her grandparents\, Dave Jackson and Comer King in Adel\,\nGA and moved to New York City in 1955. She was married in 1955 to James Daniel Brown. Mr.\nBrown departed this world in 1998. For the last 41 years\, she has been a resident of\nWappingers Falls\, NY. \nAfter receiving her Bachelor’s degree from Fort Valley State College and two Master’s degrees\nfrom Iona College and New York University\, Arvenia worked for the New York City Board of\nEducation in various positions such as a Social Worker\, Teacher\, Assistant Principal and\nPrincipal. An unrivaled passion for education allowed her to win multiple awards\, specifically for\nher dedicated work with special education. Her professional experience included teaching\nchildren from all grades and college students. \nArvenia was a member of the Mid-Hudson Valley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta\nSorority\, Inc. She served as the Chapter President 1991-1994\, Recording Secretary 1998\,\nParliamentarian 2001-2002\, as well as the Chair of Delta Academy. Her dedication and service\nas a Delta Sigma Theta Sorority\, Inc. member was indeed a lifetime commitment. \nArvenia also participated heavily in Bethel Missionary Baptist Church\, as a part of the Deaconess\nMinistry\, Missionary Ministry\, Trustee Board\, and Choir\, and volunteered for many activities\nincluding working with the youth\, such as teaching Sunday School. \nSurvivors include her sons James Michael Brown Sr.\, and Christopher Brown; daughter-in-law\nPatricia Brown; grandchildren Mashaun Brown (Tramaine)\, Joseph Brown\, Miani Brown\, James\nMichael Brown Jr. (Shandelle)\, Cerrone Brown (Aimeé)\, Demora Jones (Wayne)\, Shaniqua Brown\,\nLamarr Brown (Hope Horan)\, Chína Payne (Talvin)\, and Christopher Brown who departed this earth\nearlier this year; 18 great-grandchildren; and several siblings\, nieces and nephews\, and a host of friends.\nShe was predeceased by her two sons Gerald Brown and Anthony Brown\, her mother Edith Baldwin\, and\nher four sisters.

DESCRIPTION:Eric Benjamin Motley was born in Manhattan\, NY on March 16\, 1970\, to the late Frank Wilson Jefferson Jr. and Gwendolyn (Motley) Burney. He departed this life for eternal rest on Sunday\, June 30\, 2024\, at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh\, NY. \nEric graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas\, VA\, and continued his education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Wilmington\, NC. \nAt an early age\, Eric traveled and served in ministry with his uncle\, the late Great Prophet Travis Motley. During their travels\, Prophet Motley had an extended crusade in Newburgh\, NY where Eric met his wife of thirty-two years\, Jamie Newman Motley. To that union were born five beautiful children. \nServing in ministry was one of Eric’s greatest loves. He served in ministry far and near\, sick or well. There was rarely a time that Eric did not serve. God blessed him to be able to serve many great men of God in ministry and he did not take it for granted. In August of 2022\, he came under the leadership of Apostle Jeffrey Woody and began Pastoring Ambassadors for Christ Bible Temple where he pastored until the Lord called him home. \nEric was also involved in the community. He took part in many events\, especially those which involved young people. He worked as a counselor at the Boys and Girls Club\, he also coached for the basketball teams Zion Lions and the Panthers. Eric also ran for the school board and was a Board member of the Newburgh Housing Authority. \nEric is survived by his wife\, Jamie of Newburgh\, NY; one daughter\, Erika Tucker (Kemani) of Beacon\, NY; four sons\, Eric Jr. of Salt Lake City\, Utah; Tradell of Lanham\, Maryland; Malachi and Hezekiah of Newburgh\, NY. Three brothers\, Tarrence Epps of Poughkeepsie\, NY\, Frankie Jefferson III of Seattle\, Washington; Ernest Grady Jr. of Newburgh\, NY; four grandsons\, Elias\, Eric III\, Jonah\, and Ian; Two Godchildren\, Andre Rayford Jr. and Terrinashjae Burden and a host of aunts\, uncles\, nieces\, nephews\, cousins and friends. \nHe was preceded in death by his father Frank Wilson Jefferson Jr. and mother\, Gwendolyn\n(Motley) Burney.

DESCRIPTION:Ruth Elizabeth Goins was born on October 14\, 1934\, in Spartanburg\, SC to the late Lizzie and Issac Gist. From this union\, she was the oldest of two children. \nRuth was educated in the Spartanburg County School District. After graduating\, she went on to further her education at South Carolina State College in Orangeburg\, SC.\, where she majored in Biology and graduated with honors. Ruth loved school and she LOVED teaching. She returned to her hometown and began teaching for the Spartanburg County School District then later in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. Ruth worked with all age groups but tended to gravitate to the high schoolers. Later\, she left the classroom setting and moved to the Board of Education where she oversaw the Magnet School Program that started in Newburgh. \nRuth married her high school sweetheart\, the late James Howard Goins Sr. in 1958. They have two children\, James Howard Goins\, Jr.\, Poughkeepsie\, NY\, and Kathryn Goins\, Charlotte\, NC. She also has a daughter-in-law\, Clarissa\, and is the proud grandmother of Makayla and Kolongi. \nRuth was very active in her community:\n– Former member of Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. Later she moved her membership to Beulah Baptist Church.\n– Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Incorporated for over 50 years and gained Golden status.\n– Past Worthy Matron of the Twilight Chapter #28\, Beacon\, NY.\n– Past State President of the Empire State Federation of Women’s Clubs.\n– Past State President of the National Association of Colored Women and Youth Clubs.\n– Founded the Olga Galloway Girls’ Club\, a part of the National Association of Colored Women and Youth Clubs.\n– State Youth Supervisor of Youth Clubs\, a part of the National Association of Colored Women and Youth Clubs.\n– Member of Les Soeurs Amiables Civic Club.\n– One of the founding members of the Southern Dutchess Coalition and she helped to organize the Annual Martin Luther King Celebration in the community.\n– Received several accolades during her teaching tenure and various clubs she participated in. \nShe loved assisting people whenever she could\, especially the children. \nRuth leaves to treasure her memories of her loving children\, James Howard Goins\, Jr. (Clarissa) and Kathryn Goins; sister\, Genevieve Williams; brothers-in-law\, Charles Goins (Polly)\, Kenneth Goins (Julie); sister-in-law\, Barbara Goins; grandchildren\, Makayla Goins and Kolongi Goins; along with a host of cousins\, nieces\, nephews\, and friends

DESCRIPTION:Norma Eulalee Forrester was born on January 4\, 1962\, to Julia Forrester and the late Carmel Forrester in Old Hope\, Westmoreland on the beautiful island of Jamaica\, W.I. \nIn 1974\, Norma and her sister Joan\, migrated to the United States to live with their dad and stepmother\, the late\, Gloria Forrester. She attended and graduated from Highland Central Schools. During the 1980s\, Norma gave birth to Gene Pope and Kemisha Pope (via Eugene Pope). In 1997\, she gave birth to Thabani Thorpe (via Joseph Thorpe). \nNorma’s lifelong career was spent serving and caring for patients at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie\, NY. With over 30 years of faithful dedication\, Norma was well-known and loved by her coworkers. \nIn 2019\, Norma was diagnosed with colon cancer. She fought a long fight\, however\, on June 11\, 2024\, Norma succumbed to her illness\, while surrounded by her family and close friends. \nTo cherish her memories are her mother\, Julia Forrester of Jamaica; her children\, Gene Pope\, Kemisha Pope\,& Thabani Thorpe; her granddaughter\, Julia Pope; her siblings\, Janet Walker and Alphonso (Dale) Pyke of Jamaica\, Joan ForresterStephen\, Clive Pyke\, Donna (Sandra) Pyke & Dawn Brown\, her\nbrothers-in-law; Wills Stephen and Christopher Brown; her previous spouses\, Eugene Pope\, and Joseph Thorpe; a host of nieces\, nephews\, cousins\, and friends. \nNorma was predeceased by her brother\, Keith Pyke\, her brother-in-law\, Canute Walker\, and her previous spouse\, Gladstone Bailey\, all of Jamaica. \nThe family would like to thank those who have called\, visited\, prayed\, and uplifted Norma until the Lord called her home. \nRevelation 21:4 says\, “ He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain\, for the old order of things has passed away.” \nWhat a day it will be when we shall see Norma again!

DESCRIPTION:John Peter West Sr\, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie\, was born to Samuel West and Theresa Thomas on August 16\, 1932\, in a small town on the island of Cuba and transitioned to be with his savior on July 12\, 2024\, at the Mid-Hudson Regional\nHospital\, Poughkeepsie\, NY. \nHe received his basic education at an elementary school while residing in Jamaica. He migrated to the USA for a better life for his family and gained employment at Great Eastern Publishing\, Poughkeepsie and Pawling Rubber Corporation\, (Pawling\, NY). After retiring he relocated to Ocala\, Florida. In later years as his health declined\, he returned to New York to be closer to his children. \nJohn\, being a Christian and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ\, was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP) in Jamaica. He was determined to find a place of worship when he relocated to New York. He became a member of the Newburgh COGOP and later was instrumental in starting the now-Redeemed Christian Fellowship COGOP in Poughkeepsie\, NY. \nJohn is survived by his wife Carmen West of Poughkeepsie\, NY; daughters\, Verona West-Leblanc\, Sharon West-Samuda\, Lorna West-Thompson\, and Charmain West Madden all of Poughkeepsie; sons\, Carl West of Poughkeepsie\, Michael West of Fredericksburg\, VA\, Peter West\, Everton West\, and Hugh West of Manchester\, Jamaica; daughters-in-law\, Hilda of Washingtonville\, NY\, Alecia of Fredericksburg\, VA\, Valmalee of Manchester\, Jamaica; sons-in-law\, John Leblanc\, Sydney Samuda\, and Owen Madden of Poughkeepsie\, Radcliffe Thompson of Kingston\, Jamaica; 2 sisters\, Ilene Ledford of Jamaica and Meliza Kitson of Florida. John was blessed with 30 grandchildren and over 40 great-grandchildren\, a host of nieces\, and nephews\, a loving and caring church family\, and other well wishes and friends. \nJohn was ushered into the pearly gates by his two sons: Devon West and John Peter West Jr. Other family members who predeceased him include him are his parents Samuel West (father) and Theresa Thomas (mother)\, and some of his siblings.

He worked at Tarkett Manufacturing Company as a GAF Local 445 Union member for 35 years. \nAlton is survived by his wife of 49 years\, Lottie (Hobbs) Carey of Highland\, NY where they resided for the past 47 years; his daughter\, Lydia Campbell of Fayetteville\, NC\, and sister\, Gwenie Carey of Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren\, Ashlee Webb and Corey Green both of North Carolina; 3 great-grandchildren\, Liliana and James Webb and Corrinne Green; also a host of foster brothers. \nHe was predeceased by his parents; sister\, Queenie Carey and a niece\, Robin Carey.

DESCRIPTION:Obituary: \nPatricia Ann Kyle Effort\, age 83\, was called into the gates of Heaven on Friday\, July 19\, 2024\, at her home in Poughkeepsie\, NY. She was born on March 8\, 1941\, to her late parents\, Thomas Edward Kyle and Letitia Vest Mathews. Pat was predeceased by her father\, Thomas Edward Kyle; stepmother\, Mary Kyle; mother\, Letitia (Tishy) Mathews; stepfather\, Walter (Skee) Mathews; four brothers\, Rodney\, Thomas Jr.\, Kim Kyle\, and Guy (Doc) Mathews; and two grandchildren\, Heather and Ashley Morgan. \nPat attended the Tarrytown public schools and graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School. She then went on to nursing school and received her LPN License. For many years she was employed at Phelps Memorial Hospital as a neonatal nurse in Sleepy Hollow\, NY. She also worked at Briarcrest Nursing Home\, and during some summer months\, Pat was the nurse at Mountain Lakes Camp in Katonah\, NY. \nPat attended Pace University and received a business degree. She then started working at IBM Corporation where she held several positions until she retired. \nPat accepted Christ at a young age in her life and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Tarrytown\, New York. She then moved to Poughkeepsie\, NY where she joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Wappingers Falls and worked as the Church Secretary for many years. \nThe family was extremely important to Pat. She loved her children\, grandchildren\, and great-grandchildren. She loved the Family Reunions and attended all of them until she was unable. Pat worked as a committee member\, and at any family gathering\, she was the life and light of the party. \nPat leaves to cherish her memories; her son\, Reginald Effort\, III; her daughter\, Kendall Effort\, both of Poughkeepsie\, NY; three sisters\, Bonnie Warren of Garland\, TX\, Leslie Mathews of Denver\, CO\, and Janice Twitty of Desert Hot Springs\, CA; five grandchildren\, Edgar Henderson Jr.\, Regina Effort-Nance\, Sarah Morgan\, Aniyah Enson\, several great-grandchildren\, and a host of nieces\, nephews\, cousins\, and friends.

DESCRIPTION:Faith Viveena Watson 63 transitioned to her eternal rest on Wednesday\, July 10th\, 2024 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminister in Charlotte\, NC. Faith was born on September 4th\, 1960 in Bronx NY to parents Doris Brown & Eugene Watson. She was the second child born into this union. Faith attended school within the New York City Public School system and graduated from Harry S Truman High School located in Bronx\, NY. She later graduated from Marist College in Poughkeepsie\, NY with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice in 2006. She was currently enrolled and about to obtain her Master’s degree at Winthrop University in Rock Hill\, South Carolina with a degree in Special Education. \nFaith completed 30 years working in numerous departments within the New York State system retiring as a Parole Revocation Specialist in the NYS Community Supervision department in 2018. Once relocating to Indian Land\, South Carolina\, Faith obtained a job teaching G.E.D at Gaston College and later switched to teaching English as a second language at South Piedmont Community College in Monroe\, NC. \nFaith became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority\, Incorporated on May 13th\, 2007 into the Iota Pi Zeta Chapter in Poughkeepsie\, NY. She transferred to Psi Mu Zeta Chapter in Charlotte\, N.C. when moving in 2018 and was a current member of the Tau Theta Zeta Chapter in Pineville Matthews\, NC since 2021. She was a huge supporter of all committees she served on including President\, Treasurer\, Youth Coordinator Advisor\, National Panhellenic Council Treasurer\, and many more. \nFaith was a sassy and compassionate person. She loved to keep herself busy whether it be giving back to her community\, participating in running marathons\, traveling\, attending fitness classes\, serving on church committees and church events\, shopping or just catching up with her family and friends. \nFaith is survived by her daughter Dominique Whisnant\, sister Antoinette Fuller\, niece Ciara Moore\, grand-niece Madison Primo\, aunts Eloise Smith\, Francis Mcdaniel\, and Bette Dow\, and a host of cousins\, family members\, and friends. \nFaith was predeceased by her father Eugene Watson \, mother Doris Brown \, uncles Jack Brightman and Nathaniel Moss \, and best friend Patsy Wimbish .

DESCRIPTION:Mrs. Geneva Terry passed away at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital on July 16\, 2024\, in Newburgh\, New York.\nGeneva was born on July 14\, 1919\, in Ware Shoals\, South Carolina\, to the late R.L. and Eulah Robinson.\nAt age eighteen\, she moved to New York\, where she met and married the love of her life\, Tyree Terry.\nThey were married for 63 years and raised five children together. \nGeneva’s love for her family was unwavering\, and she dedicated her life to their well-being and happiness.\nShe worked as a professional seamstress in the garment district and later as a paraprofessional in the New York City school system. At 60\, Geneva obtained a B.S. in Education from Queens College. Upon completing her degree\, she began teaching elementary school in Queens\, N.Y. Geneva was passionate about teaching and received numerous awards for her dedication to her students and the educational system. \nAfter a thirty-five-year career in education\, Geneva retired and moved to the Mid-Hudson Region with her husband. Even in retirement\, she continued to share her love and care as a Home Health Aide\, finally retiring at 80. Geneva joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1999 with her husband Tyree and daughter Bonnie. As a member\, Geneva found great solace and community in her faith. Two of her most outstanding achievements and proudest moments were receiving the Mother of Sara Award and the Mother of the Year Award. \nGeneva is survived by her five children and her sisters Ruby (106)\, Berniece (103)\, and Juanita (101)\, as well as numerous nieces and nephews\, grandchildren\, great-grandchildren\, and great-great-grandchildren.
