SUMMARY:Lloyd Smith
DESCRIPTION:Lloyd Smith went home to the Lord on March 3\, 2025\, at 86. Lloyd was a dedicated and wonderful husband\, a fantastic father\, and a loyal and supportive friend. He will be missed greatly. \nLloyd was born in Lennox Big Woods\, Westmoreland\, Jamaica on September 22\, 1938\, to Adina Tomlinson and Horatio Smith. After attending Chantilly All-Age School\, Lloyd moved to Kingston\, Jamaica where he worked as a mason. Lloyd’s sister\, Elvena Tomlinson\, who was also living in Kingston at the time\, played the role of matchmaker and introduced Lloyd to her friend Icelyn (“Peggy”) Smith. From that initial introduction\, Lloyd and Peggy spent 52 cherished years together. Lloyd and Peggy have one son\, Arthur A. Smith. The family immigrated to Poughkeepsie\, New York\, in the early 1980s. Lloyd spent twenty years working at Wassaic DDSO and retired in October 2009. Lloyd loved watching thoroughbred horse racing and his beloved NY Yankees\, working in his garden\, and maintaining his home. \nLloyd is survived by his wonderful wife Peggy\, his son Arthur\, and grandchildren Amir and Leila. He is mourned by his sister Elvena\, his brother Cornelius (“Popsie”) Tomlinson\, and a large extended family of nieces nephews\, cousins\, and friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his mother Adina\, father Horatio\, sisters Edna Dennis and Eva Smith\, and brother Melvis Tomlinson. \nIn place of flowers\, the family asks that you please make donations in Lloyd’s name to St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie\, New York.
