SUMMARY:James S. Stanfield Jr.
DESCRIPTION:James Sewell Stanfield\, Jr.\, affectionately known as “Jimmy” or “Jim\,” was born on May 16\, 1958\, in Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania\, the second child of the late James Sewell Stanfield\, Sr.\, and Ella Mae McCain-Stanfield. \nIn 1960\, Jimmy and his family moved to Newburgh\, New York\, where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy (high school) in 1977. \nFrom a young age\, Jimmy was very inquisitive and had lots of energy. He loved the outdoors\, going on all-day bike adventures\, hiking\, and camping. He also loved music\, could often be heard tapping rhythms on tables and other objects\, later taking up the bongos and drumming in elementary school\, and joining the community’s drum corps\, where he learned to play the trumpet and proudly participated in their marching band’s parade events. \nHis love for music also extended to the dance floor\, where he became a whiz at doing “The Hustle” during the 1970’s disco era. He also had a gifted voice\, an amazing falsetto pitch that could wow the room\, especially when he took the mic during the family’s karaoke get-togethers. \nAs a young adult\, Jimmy was employed at IBM and was lastly employed as a driver at Arnoff Moving & Storage\, where his many years of dedicated service resulted in long-lasting friendships. \nJimmy’s spiritual journey began as a child. He attended Sunday School at Mt. Carmel Church in Newburgh\, and later New Hope Missionary Baptist Church\, where he accepted Christ and was baptized. He and a few of his friends later formed a male gospel singing group and ministered in song at church events in the area. \nHe later moved to Poughkeepsie\, New York\, where he bought a home and focused on raising his son. He also became a member of Beulah Baptist Church and joined the Men’s Choir as well as the Fine Gold Men’s Ministry. Beulah Baptist is also where he met the woman who would later become his bride\, Janet Heard\, whom he married in 2015. He was also a member of Nimrod Lodge #96 of the New York State Prince Hall Masonic Order. \nJimmy loved spending time with his family and friends\, laughing\, talking\, and sharing stories. He was the best storyteller\, always had one that would make you laugh. And he never met a toddler whose cheeks he could resist\, especially when he became a grandfather and great-grandfather\, or as they called him\, “Pop-Pop.” \nHe was a constant presence in his grandchildren’s lives\, often picking them up to spend quality time with them—taking them shopping\, to the barbershop\, special events\, and he especially loved taking them with him to church. Love\, faith\, and family had been part of the Stanfield legacy that he wanted to pass on. \nHe was preceded in death by his parents\, James Sewell Stanfield\, Sr.\, and Ella Mae McCain Stanfield; his brothers-in-law\, Waymon Robinson\, Sr.\, and Eric Haynes; his father-in-law\, John Heard\, Sr.; and one grandson\, Jahlil Stanfield. \nIn his parting\, Jimmy leaves to treasure his memory: his loving and devoted wife\, Janet P. Heard-Stanfield; his son\, James D. Stanfield; one grandson\, Shajai Stanfield; one granddaughter\, Jamyia Stanfield; one great-grandson\, SynCére Stanfield; two great-granddaughters\, SuRoya Stanfield and Sa’Kiyah Stanfield; one brother\, Tony Standfield (Wanda); two sisters\, Vicki Stanfield-Robinson-Haynes and Valerie Stanfield; his mother-in-law\, Fannie Heard-McCollum; sister-in-law\, Donna Plummer; brother-in-law\, John Heard\, Jr. (Meg); and a host of nieces\, nephews\, cousins\, aunts\, uncles\, extended family\, and dear friends.

SUMMARY:Tonie L. Graham
DESCRIPTION:Tonie Lee (Pearse) Graham entered this world on April 5\, 1942\, daughter of Jesse Lee Pearse and Riley Lee Pearse\, her loving parents\, who resided at 1 Cottage Street in the City of Poughkeepsie\, New York. On Tuesday\, January 6\, 2026\, at the age of 83\, Tonie peacefully transitioned from this physical life to be with her Lord and Savior. \nAffectionately known as “Ms. Tonie\,” she attended elementary and grade school in the City of Poughkeepsie and was a proud graduate of Poughkeepsie High School\, Class of 1960. Following graduation\, Tonie pursued her passion for music through studies in New York City. She later began a successful career at IBM\, where she was employed for over 30 years before retiring. \nTonie’s life was deeply rooted in faith and music. A lifelong member of Beulah Baptist Church\, she began playing the piano there at the tender age of 7. Over the decades\, she faithfully served as pianist and musical director for numerous choirs\, including the Senior Choir\, SAG (Starling A. Grayson) Choir\, the Gospel Chorus\, and the Junior Choir. She also shared her gifts with the 2nd Baptist Church and was a founding member of The Voices of Faith. \nHer passion for gospel music was intense and unmistakable. Every choir member felt it\, during rehearsals and especially on Sunday mornings. “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord” was not just a scripture she quoted\, but a life she lived. Some of the most memorable Sundays at Beulah Baptist Church were the annual choir days\, particularly when the Gospel Chorus and Junior Choir marched in to “We’ve Come This Far by Faith.” Tonie poured her whole heart into praising God through song and piano\, leaving behind a musical legacy that will be felt for generations to come. \nTonie was predeceased by her father Jesse Lee Pearse\, her mother Riley Lee Pearse\, her husband John Graham\, her beloved son Leonard Lee Graham\, and her sister Lucille Stokes. \nShe leaves to cherish her memory her son\, Thomas Jerome Pearse; her grandchildren: Anquanette “Annie” Sharonie Neails\, Heiress Gabriel Pearse\, Kadeem Nathaniel Pearse\, Isaiah Tashan Pearse\, Maliq Jerome Pearse\, Kelyshja Lee Nianna Pearse\, Lazell Thomas Neails\, Shoneeka Mood\, and Lashonda Van Tassel; and her great-grandchildren: Denzel Ashley\, Jhett Pearse Bennett\, Akeem Jerome Pearse\, Izalee Desire Pearse\, Nayomie Gangoo\, Mechico Izayah Mood\, William Amare Mood\, Zaniyah and Zakeithaney Shaw\, and her niece\, Thelma Stokes. \nAlso surviving her are her God-sent daughters\, Ruth “Penny” Lupoe and Lakethia Renae Shaw\, who both held a very special place in her heart. \nKnown for her kindness and genuine care for others\, Tonie carried her faith\, warmth\, and love of God wherever she went. She spent five years in assisted living at Delmar Gardens in Atlanta before returning to Poughkeepsie\, where she resided at Manor on the Woodside\, Interfaith Towers\, The Baptist Home in Rhinebeck\, and eventually The Pines. Throughout every season\, she maintained unwavering faith and never complained about her physical or health conditions. She enjoyed many wonderful years surrounded by the love of family and friends. \nTonie Lee Graham’s life was truly a beautiful melody of faith\, service\, and love. a devoted servant of God\, a gifted musician\, a loving mother\, grandmother\, and matriarch. While she will be deeply missed\, her voice\, radiant smile\, laughter\, teachings\, and joy will forever live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her. \nHer favorite saying was\, “Everything is gonna be alright.” \nWe know that Ms. Tonie is singing and playing that piano in the Heavenly Choir. \n“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8 \nTo God be the glory forever.

SUMMARY:Aston Gordon
DESCRIPTION:Aston Gordon entered into rest on Monday\, January 12\, 2026. He was 81. \nAston\, also known as Keith\, was born on February 4\, 1944\, in St. Catherine\, Jamaica\, to Larchin and Ambrozene Gordon. When he came to America to make a better life for himself\, he did exactly that. \nAston was an extremely hard worker; he worked for Gemark Corp. for over 20 years\, then moved on to work for the Newburgh School District (Meadow Hill) for 12 years. There\, he was loved and respected by many co-workers and vice versa. \nAston was nothing less than a family man. He loved his family. He was present for every event\, holiday\, birthday\, etc. He will be remembered as the life of the party. As soon as one of his jams came on\, he’d be right on the dance floor\, throwing his right hand all the way up. \nSunday dinners were at his house; he’d sit in his chair\, cracking jokes with the grandkids or having talks with his son\, all while the girls cooked. He rarely ate with us because he was excited about all the leftovers he was going to have for the next few days. \nHe will be deeply missed. \nAston was a loving and devoted father to Cassandra Smith (Haron)\, Keyona Gordon\, Keith Smith Sr. (Cynthia)\, and Joshua Smith Gordon Sr. (Deanna)\, all from Newburgh. \nHe was an amazing grandpa to 11 grandchildren: Laquasia\, Tyrin\, Oneil (Mookie)\, KeiAisha (Mami)\, KeiArah (Mami)\, Makayla\, NyiArah (Mamito)\, Keith Jr. (Papito)\, Aaron (Shrimp)\, Amarion (Pump)\, and Jayden. \nHe was predeceased by his parents; three brothers\, Willie\, Joe\, and Riley; one sister\, Emily; one grandson\, Joshua Smith Gordon Jr.; and his special friend\, Linda Smith.
